About Me
Hello! My name is Jade Belden, and I am a New York-based actress, writer, and dramaturg. I graduated with a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Arizona, with a minor in Arts Administration in December of 2024 (on my birthday! Big day for me)! In the quiet suburbs of Olathe, Kansas, I began my creative journey. I grew up running around in green rooms and playing make-believe in prop closets as my mother enchanted audiences on stage. Watching her lose herself in a character captivated and inspired me. To no surprise, I fell completely in love with the stage. Not only is theatre my own passion, but it is part of what bonds me to my favorite person on this earth, my mother.
In university, I began to find my voice as both an actress and a writer. What pulls me toward every project I work on is the pursuit of telling stories that provoke action and reflection. Some of my recent works, which I am the proudest of, deal with themes of reproductive rights, LGBTQIA+ issues, girlhood, coming of age, and climate change - all of which are stories that I believe need to be told. Art, words, and imagery are the most truthful ways we can communicate the indescribable facets of the human experience. If there is anything I feel I was put on this earth to do, it would be experiencing every emotion this vessel is capable of and attempting to put the feeling into words.
Offstage and away from my desk, I like to read, bake for my friends and family, play dress up, write folk songs on the child-sized guitar I have had my whole life, and sew! I love coming-of-age films, maximalism, and every form caffeine comes in (especially an Iced Cortado).
I am fortunate enough that my hobbies tend to overlap with my career. It is entirely in character for me to put down my work for the day and pick it back up because I wholeheartedly enjoy doing what I do.
Above all else, I love people. I love that every human being on this earth has a different perspective, a different purpose, and is capable of boundless love. :)
